Globe Reporter Tania deLuzuriaga Quits

1221747467Poynter Online reports that Globe staffer Tania deLuzuriaga has left the paper after she allegedly had an affair with a high-ranking school official she covered at her previous job in Miami.

She didn’t really have much of a choice after some steamy emails between her and now Miami-Dade school superintendent Alberto Carvalho surfaced. But here’s the real kicker.

The imbroglio did not prevent Carvalho from being promoted to Miami-Dade schools superintendent. He started his new job earlier this month.

So the married guy who was involved in the scandal gets promoted, and deLuzuriaga resigns? Nice double standard there.

The Boston Globe does hiring for the Miami-Dade school systems?

Oh, wait, now I get it, deLuzuriaga is canned for violating basic professional ethics. Carvalho should be for … cheating on his wife? That’s somehow his employer’s problem?

I’m sorry, what was the problem agin, and why are you upset?
