Deep Pockets Promises More Scandal

1221752924In today’s Globe, Boston businessman Ron Wilburn confirms he is actually Deep Pockets, otherwise known as the Cooperating Witness took down former State Senator Dianne Wilkerson and current Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner.

We don’t often admit our ardor, but we’re kind of in love with him.

Asked if he was surprised that public officials would allegedly take money to help push a liquor license, [Wilburn] responded quickly. “Hell, no,” and let out a hearty laugh.

But here’s where it gets good—Wilburn says we should expect to see more arrests in conjunction with the FBI investigation, but doesn’t name names.

Why do we always fall for the teases?

“If other people aren’t looked at, realistically, something is radically wrong with the process,” Wilburn said yesterday.

Hmm. Judging by U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan’s remarks when Turner was arrested, it’s likely someone at City Hall who isn’t named Tom Menino. Sullivan refused to say if the Boston Licensing Board and/or its chairman, Dan Pokaski, are being investigated.

Turner’s colleagues on the City Council may also be under investigation, since Sullivan didn’t rule them out. We’d wager that City Council President Maureen Feeney will be spared any implication in the case, since the Wilkerson affidavit says she was angry about the pressure the senator was placing on the council to give Dejavu a license.

We just hope there are more grainy surveillance video stills to accompany the complaint against the next local pol to fall.
