Breaking: The End of Sal?
The Lowell Sun is reporting that House Speaker Sal DiMasi is going to resign.
A Statehouse source called the departure “imminent” after a receiving a flurry of phone calls last night and early this morning from several of the speaker’s closest colleagues. While no one would confirm or deny the Speaker’s resignation, the source said he was alerted to “developments” under way.

Update: Hot off the press, DiMasi’s office is denying the report.
“The speaker is focused on the important work before the House and won’t be distracted by the latest round of Statehouse rumors and gossip,” said David Guarino, DiMasi’s communications director.
We called around and couldn’t find anyone to confirm the Sun report. More to come…
