Ahead of the curve as usual, we first discovered breeder Denise Ronayne‘s well-mannered Yorkshire terrier pups almost two years ago.
This morning, just when we thought that we (and the rest of America) had reached cute puppy overload, we got word from Ronayne that the she and her Yorkies will make their national television debut this weekend when they star on Animal Planet show Dogs 101 (Saturday 11/15 at 8 p.m. and Sunday 11/16 at 7 p.m.).
But Ronayne’s hopes for her cuddly canines stretch beyond television stardom: She’d like for one of her Yorkies to be the new First Dog.
“The Animal Planet producer and I are very hopeful that Obama’s family will watch the show because we believe one of our dogs would be a perfect fit,” she says. “Someone like Obama could get any show dog out there, but I don’t think that’s who he is. And I’ve heard that one of his daughters is allergic, which makes Yorkshire terriers ideal because they have hair, not fur.”
Continues the enthusiastic Ronayne, “What an honor it would be for us at Country Home Yorkies—and even for the state of Massachusetts—to give the first family a Yorkshire terrier!”

This story is rather shocking. Puppy breeders and puppy mills need to end! It costs the US 2 billion a yer to put down unwanted animals. This is very embarrasing for you Boston Magazine — please make yourself aware. Get taught!
One needn’t search too far on the internet to discover the “bad news” about this so-called breeder.
How can you condone such people as this woman, She is nothing but a puppy mill. Shame on you and your news. And shame on Animal Planet for such a program exploiting these poor puppies. You can go to yorkies.com and look under “looking For Breeders” under the states K-M scroll to bottom and there are plenty of horror stories on this so called breeder!!!!!!!
Shame on you for not doing your homework before you praise a well known puppy mill! Anyone that has issues with Animal Planet putting this lady of their show please call (212) 548-5555. This is the phone number for the corporate offices for animal planet. I explained to them what I was calling for and they put me through to the voicemail for URGENT VIEWER RELATIONS we do not have to sit back and watch this lady get praise!
how can you help this woman? she is a broker selling sick puppies with many complaints.. she needs to be in jail, not on television. she is a phony with a bait and switch reputation selling unregistered dogs she imports for hundreds and sells for thousands., she is only in it for the money..
It has come to my attention that there will be a show air on 11-15-08 about a breeder of Yorkshire Terriors. While I do not know this breeder and have not had any dealings with her, I have read several posts on Yorkie Talk.com forum about her. I would just like to have Animal Planet make sure that this breeder is not as these comments claim she is-a broker/puppy mill. It would be very sad if these complaints are true and this airing of her business only be giving free press for her to keep on doing business as a broker/puppy mill. Thank You.
Your right about Obama. He is not a “show dog” kind of guy. He’s getting a dog from a shelter and has said so (check out bestfriends.org). He even said he wants a dog like himself; a mutt (his words not mine). IF he goes the pure breed route I imagine he will be true to his word and rescue a Yorkie from an organization dedicated to the breed.
Animal Planet MUST MUST research this woman before this show airs on TV!!!!!!!!!!! PUPPYMILL!!!!!!! OMG PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!
Thank god people are starting to see this person for who she is. She is a marketing genius who sells unsuspecting people half truths and lies. These dogs she claims to breed etc are not her own breeding. No breeder with a couple of breeding dogs can mass produce this many yorkies at a time. The only way she has gained this “fame” or her is through the media taking her at her word instead of doing the research! You want to know about reputable breeders of AKC quality puppies then go the parent site for this breed. Breeders listed are members of this club with specific codes of ethics about breeding and selling these lovely little dogs. How many people have you as the media convinced that this is a reputable person???? She has used you for free advertising and you have cleverly been duped. Research her and put it in print so that prospective buyers beware!
Shame on the media for promoting this unscrupulous puppy dealer. Please redeem yourselves by featuring the reputable breeders who work tirelessly for the betterment of the breeds they favor, people who can educate the public on the ills of haphazzard profit-motivated breeding and brokering.
3 years ago I purchased a Yorkie from Denise in Sutton and I have a very, very sick dog. He has a liver shunt among other things. I have put alot into keeping my little boy alive and as healthy and happy as possible.
Denise is a very irresponsible breeder and is all out for the money. I have tried everything possible to have her stopped but nothing has been done.
Please, please do your homework before you fall for that sweet little boy or girl that will be yours!!!!!
The only solace I get is knowing that he is better off with me.
can dogs watch television…
Any other related posts? Thanks….
We brought a puppy from her and shes the best and we
LOVE her!!! Thanks Denise
